Jewelry from Nepal..

Nepalese Mandala Pendant

These beautiful pendants symbolize the Universe.

In the Rig Veda sacred texts, mandala is the term for a chapter, or verse hymns chanted in ancient Vedic ceremonies. The Universe was believed to originate from these hymns.  In the center of each Mandala there is a dot which symbolizes being free of dimensions, or the starting point. In creation, a line materializes out of the dot. Other lines are drawn until they intersect creating geometric patterns.  The outlying square symbolizes the physical world bound in 4 directions. The circle on the outside stands for the dynamic consciousness of the initiated.
